Stainless Steel 201 is a low-nickel austenitic alloy that serves as a cost-effective alternative to 304, boasting good strength and moderate resistance to corrosion. Its typical chemical makeup includes 16–18% Chromium, 3.5–5.5% Nickel, 5.5–7.5% Manganese, and up to 0.15% Carbon. This grade offers a tensile strength ranging from 520 to 750 MPa, a yield strength of about 275 MPa, and an elongation of roughly 45%. While it may not resist corrosion as well as 304, Stainless Steel 201 is known for its excellent toughness, good formability, and decent weldability, making it a solid choice for general-purpose applications in less harsh environments.
