Stainless Steel 321 is an austenitic stainless steel alloy that’s stabilized with titanium, enhancing its resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding. Its typical chemical makeup features 17–19% Chromium, 9–12% Nickel, and up to 0.70% Titanium. The mechanical properties of 321 include a tensile strength ranging from 515–750 MPa, a yield strength of about 205 MPa, and an elongation of roughly 40%. The titanium content helps prevent carbide precipitation during high-temperature exposure, ensuring the alloy’s structural integrity. Its outstanding oxidation resistance and good creep strength make it perfect for use in high-temperature environments, handling temperatures up to around 870°C (1600°F).
